More Creativity
Right back at school age, if anything looked fun to do & was arty-farty, I took part! Luckily my private school in England gave me numerous opportunities to do this. I was continually involved in stage productions, both here & later at university; whether acting, directing, dancing or singing. In fact, I even took a hand in stage choreography!Later on, my experiences moved from theatre to film, where much of my knowledge was learnt by actually making films, as well as from established directors & film teams. I was successful in the accomplishment of several creative & experimental "no-budget" short films of my own. This was in addition to a number of promotional & documentary films for companies.
You would have thought my time was filled up! But the urge to try my hand at writing was too strong. Once again, inspired solely & unashamedly by self-motivation, & following various pertinent courses & seminars, I started writing screenplays. Psychological themes have always interested me & I started out putting my ideas into practice in hard-hitting thrillers and dramas. It was only after several years that I recognised two key things about myself. Firstly, how unsatisfying my initial writing was before I’d developed the craft & secondly, that I was suppressing a strong impulse to start writing comedy.
I now concentrate my attention on all kinds of comedy, from romantic & satirical through to black, tragic & even quirky. Irrespective of whatever field I'm in, it’s the love of spreading & sharing joy, laughter & affectionate humour with others that drives me on!
